ASGRC Elections conclude, Students Elect Vice President for 2018
Rosie is the new collaborative vice-president and although she is less authoritative, her leadership style lies in making others feel valued and listened to.What made Rosie to want to be vice president is that she is currently serving as a judicial board senator of the student government, a peer mentor, and a vice-president of a peer volunteer organization. These experiences have come to inspired her to dive deeper into community involvement and have given her the know-how to do so competently.
Her plans for the Green River campus is that she aims to create an open system of communication in which all of the fellow students can be involved in or understand the very administration process that runs the whole school.she enjoys how the green river campus is such a diverse place and that the campus is always welcoming those that are new with open arms .When asked what she would do if she were able to make the best school possible she responded saying that she would create a nap place for students where they can actually go to sleep because there is a lot of sleep deprivation when it comes to students which is not good . She would also want to have a collab room when students talk to each other if they ever need someone to talk to, there would be a homework section in the room and also one where you can talk to others about day to day life.As for fun things she will be doing soon, she will be serving as a peer volunteer for next quarter orientation and she will also be meeting new international students coming to the campus. “I really look forward to meeting them!” Says the GRC vice- president.
As for fun facts about our Vice President Rosie, she is 20 years old and she is majoring in international relations .She enjoys music and favorite song at the moment is fight song by Rachel Platten. She has been her concert and Rachel Patten became her all time favorite artist after that. Her favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate flavor. “I love chocolate!”
she has had a leadership position before which was as a student ambassador, club president/ vice-president, a vice president of peer volunteer organization, and a peer mentor.she enjoys learning new languages on her free time. “Korean is my mother tongue and I am learning Japanese and Chinese.” Her friends are willing to help her to learn their languages! Rosie loves to mingle with people at Green river campus which is a culturally diverse place.our final question for her was how does she juggle it all? The work, school, free time, volunteering? She end with this saying : “it’s all about time management and how you use your time. Through balance. Your professional is as important as you’re social life. Making one of them more important than the other can only bring frustration. Work, study but make sure you find some free time in your life!”.
