Counseling Services Available at Green River College. John Fischer
At Green River, you can get services for just about anything and can talk to a counselor in a few different ways. You can receive services for topics like stress, financial issues, relationships and more.
“You can also go just to talk to someone you know won’t share your business with anyone,” says Robert Blinn, a student at Kent Lake High School who has been going to a counselor for a year.
If you worry about being too old or young to visit a counselor, it’s okay because counselors meet with people of all ages, you do not need to fit a certain criterion to open up about your concerns.
“Anecdotally, it runs the range from Running Start students (as young as 16 years old) all the way up to students as old as 50s to 70s,” notes Elizabeth McKinney, a counselor at Green River College with five years of experience. If price is the concern, don’t fret since there’s no cost for the first seven visits with a counselor. McKinney discusses how students can receive counseling without having to pay for anything (so long as you’re registered in the current quarter, you can access counseling).
If you’re not sure if you need to go see a counselor, give it a shot. You never know what could happen and it can still be helpful for you. Even if you’re not dealing with any mental health issues, you can still go. Counselors can help you with a lot of different problems, and even just listen to what you have to say.
Visit the Counseling Services page on the Green River website, and you can drop by or make an appointment to meet with a counselor in-person or online.
