The Walt Disney Company has recently announced its new streaming service, Disney+, that will contain a huge portion of the company’s growing list of content.
In April of 2019, Disney announced the streaming service that will have many shows and movies that fans want from the service.
It has both new and old Disney content that fans are very excited for. High School Musical, Lizzie McGuire, and The Proud Family are just some of the older shows that are going to be available for nostalgia binges from all over the world.
Christina Paavola, a former Green River College student, is one of many excited for what will come with the new Disney streaming service.
“I was super excited to see that Disney was going to have a streaming service with all of their movies,” Paavola says. Disney+ is not the only streaming service that wants to break into this market. Many major companies have jumped onto the trend, with some notable examples including Apple TV and HBO Max.
“Sooner or later all of these networks and companies are going to have their own streaming services,” said Calvin Martin, a student here at Green River College.
“[Disney+ is] set to be the biggest streaming service platform, overthrowing Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime…” Martin says. Disney+ will now have what other streaming services will not, the ability to stream all of Disney’s successful entertainment property.
Disney+ is clearly making a play to be the most popular streaming service. It will surely have something for every Disney fanatic. From the old princess classics, to the current flashier live action movies that have become hugely popular over the last several years.
This means that the classic Disney movies will be accompanied by the new Marvel movies, the Star Wars movies, Pixar movies, and other popular films and TV shows.
“I really love a lot of the classic Disney movies,” Olivia Cowley, another Green River College student says. “You can’t really stream them anywhere, so I’d hope to see those on there.” All the classics and more will be available to stream.
Disney+ offers its own way to reliving the childish wonder and memories that accompany so many of its beloved characters and animation, proving itself to be an inevitable link to accessing the nostalgia of childhood.
“I would definitely use the streaming service. As a kid who grew up on Disney shows and movies, I’m excited to see a platform where I can watch all of them,” Martin said about Disney+.
Disney+ will be released Nov. 12 and will cost $7 a month for all the company’s shows and movies and is available for early sign ups.
