Green River College Basketball Update

For The Current
This season for Gators Basketball will be one like no other. The team hasn’t been able to play for two seasons, but it has the skills and chemistry to go big this year.
“My only predictions for this season are related to this group’s chemistry,” said Godfrey Drake, in his fifth year as coach of the team.
“They are a legitimate family so I know they will give maximum effort on every possession. This is arguably our most talented and well-rounded team that I’ve had here… so it’s just about staying healthy and keeping this group focused on the what our team goals are.”
Even though the starting lineup hasn’t been set yet, you can see how hard it’s been for the coaches to make that decision.
Hank Bushell is the only returning player from the 2019-2020 season and is able to do just about anything on the court.
Trey Anderson, a top 30 player in the class of 2020, is a 6’4 guard that is athletic, shoots the lights out, and plays defense.
Zane Foster is a 7’0 D2 transfer from Saginaw Valley State in Michigan and will be an anchor in the paint with his defense.
Anthony McDade is a guard transfer from North Iowa Area CC and has what some think is an amazing IQ, silky shot, and a leader on the court.
Hunter Clarke is a downhill player who can finish with the best and can rebound and defend like nobody’s business. He’s passionate and has been a leader.
Tyler Cronk is a D2 high jumper for Saint Martins and makes the rim look like a kids toy. He’s a human highlight reel waiting to happen.
“The players that made the 13-man roster are fully vaccinated so we should be good to go,” said Drake. “We could miss a game here or there because the other team isn’t over 70 percent vaccinated and they could have an outbreak. They would have to forfeit.”
