Quarantine Film Festival Winners
Please enjoy the top three films submitted to our first online Quarantine Film Festival.
First Place: Kitchen Chaos: Car Showdown
Submitted by Green River student and youtube user Drift Shotz22, this action-packed stop motion film is so fluid that it is hard to tell between its animated and live action moments. The sound design and visual style is reminiscent of The “Fast and Furious” movie franchise, but the use of toy cars instills a juxtaposition that is irresistibly humorous and impressive.
Second Place: The Life of a College Student in Quarantine
Submitted by Green River Student and youtube user Noneur Business, this comedic short film acts as a portrait of a college student in quarantine. It has the mockumentary style of “The Office” or “Parks And Recreation”, and delivers relatable humor that encapsulates what this generation of students are going through during the pandemic.
Third Place: Dead Lands
Submitted by Green River Alumni and youtube user Isaac Gallegos, this computer-animated journey through a hellish and symbolic landscape expresses a sense of hope that can be found at the edge of true darkness. The impressive animation and score draws viewers into a visual experience that they will never forget. (Do check out the full version of the film linked here.)
We will be hosting more online contests like this come fall quarter. In the mean time, watch these films to gather the inspiration needed to make your own when the time comes.
Stay creative, Gators.
