“The military made my life more fulfilling,” Ivan Montes, a former army soldier who served in Afghanistan for six years, said.
Initially, he joined to get money to go to college and as of right now he has no current plans to serve again. Currently, he is pursuing his bachelor’s degree in water treatment. With that degree, he hopes to get a job with the Department of Defense in the water division.
Montes also said that the accommodations from the college helped with his stress. “Green River helped me leave my comfort zone and come out of my shell more.” Montes later said life at Green River for veterans, in his opinion, helps make their life more fulfilling.
